The trucking sector has a new made-in-Canada electric option for their fleets. On June 22, the Brandt Peterbilt Mississauga branch delivered the first Canadian-built Peterbilt 548 EV tractor to Transco Freight in Ontario.

Our partnership with Peterbilt gives Canadian companies choices that improve their bottom line, produce zero emissions, and also support Canadian manufacturing when they’re adding to their fleets,” said Neil Marcotte, Chief Operating Officer, Brandt Peterbilt.
The Class 8 tractor was built in the Sainte-Thérèse Peterbilt plant in Québec. The PACCAR plant also produces the Peterbilt 579EV, 567EV, 537EV, and 536EV, among other Peterbilt trucks.
“Electric trucks are a smart business decision for us,” Paul Cooper, Chief Operating Officer, Transco Freight, Mississauga said. “They dramatically lower fuel and maintenance costs over the life of each vehicle, and with tightening emissions regulations across the industry, getting ahead of that curve now means we’re ready for what’s coming, not just what’s in front of us.”
