NAPA Sizzles with Summer Events

NAPA Auto Parts stores and their customers took full advantage of great summer weather with a number of high-profile events this year.

The NAPA Green Monster Tour returned after a six-year hiatus. This excursion involved a pair of Boston Red Sox- Texas Rangers American baseball league games at historic Fenway Park in Boston, MS.  A group of 50, comprised of NAPA owners and service providers from all over Atlantic Canada, attended. The July weekend was truly enjoyable with lots of heat, great baseball and visits to historic downtown Boston sites. Unfortunately, the Red Sox only managed one win in the four-game series against Texas.

In St. John’s NF record crowds turned out for the NAPA-Hickman Motors Classic Car Show. The # 24 Jeff Gordon Dupont car was a huge hit with race fans and the general public. All told, a record 365 vehicles were registered and crowds exceeded 5,000 - a record number in the event’s 15-year history.

The weather was perfect and more importantly- over $2,000 was raised with proceeds directly to ‘ChildFind’ in Newfoundland and Labrador. NAPA and Hickman Motors also manned the BBQs with a record 1300 hotdogs distributed to all the hungry patrons!

The fine weather is also a perfect time for summer BBQ’s and NAPA Saint John and NAPA Bristol, NB recently hosted customer events - featuring prizes along with tool and equipment displays. A good time was had by all and we hope to see you next year.

SO LONG BOB!

Bob Battis; NAPA GM Dan Mckim, John Robertson-Antigonish, Charlie Boyce- Truro)

A well-respected automotive industry veteran recently said goodbye after a long and outstanding 37-year career. R.S. (BOB) BATTIS officially retired from NAPA AUTO PARTS earlier this summer. His career began at C.A.W.L. (Canadian Automotive Warehousing Limited) in 1973 as the ‘Associate Store Co-Ordinator.’ Bob was instrumental in developing and growing the NAPA store network in Atlantic Canada and as of today, NAPA has an impressive 83-store network in the 4 Atlantic Provinces. Battis became UAP/NAPA Sales manager in the mid-1980s replacing the then-retiring Gerry Fleming.

A fitting retirement dinner and soiree for Bob and his wife Wendy, sons Chris and Todd, unfolded at the Delta Beausejour in Moncton. The event was well-attended by NAPA colleagues and the majority of NAPA associate store owners from Atlantic Canada. Known for many things, including a love of travel - Bob & Wendy were presented with a travel voucher for future voyages. Bob was also the ‘guest golfer’ at NAPA Golf Day at Rodd Mill River, PEI resort in June. His retirement plans? Bob said, “More travel and more time with the grandchildren..and thanks for the memories.”

A great Woodstock, NB car show!

NAPA Auto Parts in Woodstock, NB and Best Western Hotel & Suites recently teamed up for yet another successful car show extravaganza.  The third annual how had perfect weather and a total of 105 vehicles were on display at the Best Western Woodstock. NAPA owner Rob Saunders said it was a great event. “We also raised $1200 dollars for young Braden DeMerchant. Braden has a rare bowel disorder and will require surgeries to correct the problem.” A big thanks to everyone who contributed.

Much, much more in the print addition of Auto Atlantic.
