NAPA FLYER’ wins Nackawic,
New Brunswick Soap Box Derby!


The Town of Nackawic, N.B., recently held its first ‘Soap Box Derby’ as part of Nackawic’s “Festival On The Bend’ summer events.

The event challenged local car enthusiasts to build and outfit their own soapbox racer. The ‘NAPA FLYER’, driven by 9-year-old Riley Grant took home top honors in the 8-10 year old catgeory. The racer was built by NAPA AUTO PARTS store owner Blake (Henry Ford) Collier. The NAPA Flyer was clocked at an amazing 35-kilometers an hour over the 350-yard course!  NAPA Nackawic also supported the event as a sponsor and it will become an annual event for the kids.

NAPA congratulates Atlantic region winners!

Participation in the NAPA AUTOPRO Seasonal promotions has paid off again in the Atlantic Region for five NAPA AUTOPRO Customers. This season over 75 NAPA AUTOPRO Customers will be awarded a Napoleon Patioflame “campfire style” burner & log set due to the successful promotion of the “Sit Back & Relax!” seasonal maintenance reminder program.

Laurie Chard from Mt. Uniacke, NS, needed a new tool box!  So, he thought what better place to win one than at the Atlantic Nationals Car Show held this summer in Moncton, NB. Ever the optimist, Laurie was ecstatic after getting the call - his name was picked from among the thousand of ballots and he took home a brand new Ultrapro Tool Cabinet - courtesy of NAPA AUTO PARTS, a major sponsor at the Atlantic Nationals. Laurie filled out his ballot at the NAPA booth. Congratulations to Laurie Chard and thanks for thinking of NAPA!

At the end of each course, you will complete an on-line exam and if successful, all you’ll have to do is print your certificate. To simplify things even more and best accommodate the NAPA Centre of Excellence clientele, the bank of virtual courses is available 24/7 anywhere you are. All you need is a computer and an Internet connection. In order to answer any of your questions, a call centre assistance line is also available 24/7.

Over 450 bilingual courses, mechanical, body, management, customer service, computer skills and much more are part of the wide array of courses offered by the NAPA Centre of Excellence.

Certifications. Again, thanks to its partnership with CARS, the NAPA Centre of Excellence also offers certifications such as the CFC (Regulation on halocarbons), the WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) required by the government. No more paperwork, hundreds of pages to read and hours spent in classes. Thanks to the NAPA Centre of Excellence, you can complete your WHMIS and CFC training on-line, at home or at work, and get your certification.



High tech!
Aware of the needs of its customers, the NAPA Centre of Excellence offers trendy and high-tech training sessions. For instance, the course on the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor Systems) instructs on how to service, diagnose and repair these systems and how to reset them without damaging components.

Five (5) modules on hybrid technology highlight the basic principles of components, operation and maintenance for hybrid vehicles as well as the specific design for each manufacturer in the industry. Not to forget: the new standards in waterborne paint. The courses from DuPont on waterborne paint products, colours and refinishing, will improve your knowledge on paint and body. Among the range of courses offered by the NAPA Centre of Excellence, it doesn’t matter which one you follow, every course is very specific and detailed in its subject.Given are examples and exercises and so much more.

An inventive evaluation tool. Besides its bank of virtual courses, the NAPA Centre of Excellence provides its members “CARSability,” an on-line self-assessment tool created by and for the industry to help evaluate their (new or existing) employees’ skills by having them complete knowledge tests. It offers 34 types of evaluations, each containing 100 questions and covering almost all job classifications in the industry. The results are immediate and simple to analyze. Furthermore, they highlight the strengths and weaknesses and suggest the appropriate training that will fill the gaps found in the evaluation.
