Nova Scotia jobber
named Jobber of the Year
Rafuse Autoparts Centre and owner Howie MacKenzie, have been named to receive the Jobber of the Year Award for 2006. Rafuse is a long-standing auto parts wholesaling business in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, has been owned and operated by MacKenzie for nearly a decade.
“I am flabbergasted,” says MacKenzie. “It’s an honour to be picked as the Jobber of the Year. I have seen some pretty distinguished Jobber of the Year candidates in the past so I feel pretty good to be amongst those people.” A member of the Bestbuy Distributors buying group, Rafuse also operates a branch in Kentville, NS.
MacKenzie has been very involved in that organization as a member of the board and also serves on the Auto Parts Associates board, the Kansas-based distribution group that Bestbuy is a member of. The APA group is a member-owned cooperative made up of over 100 independent warehouse distributors in North America. Bestbuy Distributors has some 65 members operating 160 stores in Canada.
The Jobber News “Jobber of the Year” award is formally named in honour of EJ and AE Wadham who founded the magazine in 1931. The award has been presented annually since 1982 and is designed to honour those members of the auto parts wholesaling community who have combined success in business with industry involvement and community service.
