Lockhart Truck Racing Series at spiffier Scotia Speedworld

The Lockhart Truck Centre Weekly Racing Series will set the pace for regional racers at Scotia Speedworld this year - a new and improved Scotia Speedworld for 2008.

Fifteen Friday night shows for six racing divisions will comprise the 2008 Lockhart Truck Centre Weekly Racing Series at the 3/10-mile asphalt oval, starting May 30 and ending September 12. Fans attending these events will enjoy a refreshed facility with special attention paid to the 5,000-seat grandstand area, the washrooms, consideration for improved handicap access as well as operational improvements for race control in the tower.

The weekly racing division entitlement for Lockhart Truck Centre means an enhanced level of support for Scotia Speedworld from a company that has long been involved with the track at various levels of participation. “We see this as a good fit for us, our staff and customers, for the track, the racers and the fans,” said David Lockhart, co-owner of Lockhart Truck Centre. “It is a move forward that we see enhancing our partnership with the facility as it looks to the future.”

Much like Lockhart Truck Centre, which has grown from a diesel engine repair facility in 1985 to its current capacity as a 10,000-square foot full-service Sterling and Western Star facility, the Lockhart Truck Centre Weekly Racing Series provides an arena where aspiring racers can grow their talents to whatever level suits their ability and desire. Racers as young as eight-years-old can start in the Bandoleros division at Scotia Speedworld then move through the ranks into the four-cylinder Miller Tire/BFGoodrich Thunder & Lightning Cars, the six-cylinder Hobby Stock, 5/8-scale Legends Cars, or eight-cylinder C&R Auto Supply Sportsman cars.

Drivers from each division accumulate championship points based on their finishing position with the top points -getters being awarded the division championships. Besides their weekly racing series entitlement Lockhart Truck Centre will sponsor the July 11 event at Scotia Speedworld featuring the fourth annual, and very popular, Big Rig Show ’N Shine. The 2008 race season at Scotia Speedworld kicked off May 24 with the Lucas Oil 100, round one of 11 on this years version of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour chase for the championship.
